Hooked on a Feeling: Review of “Guardians of the Galaxy”

Me thinks the poster designer has been studying Star Wars a little too closely.

SOMEBODY in the poster design department has seen Star Wars one too many times.

Rated PG-13, 121 minutes (watched 8/8/14)

Frozen is a good movie, but it’s not a great movie. What makes it an instant classic and not just another modern-era Disney movie (but with rocktrolls!) is a fantastic soundtrack chock full of earworms. Likewise, the classic musical Grease is a laughably bad movie with AARP members trying to pass as high school seniors. What turns it into a favorite is one of the best soundtracks ever. Leggo my… Lego: Review of ‘The Lego Movie’

ASSEMBLING Feb. 7. I see what you did there.

Rated PG, 100 minutes (watched 2/23/14) There’s a twist in the final 15 minutes of The Lego Movie that makes everything perfect. I loved it. If it were at the beginning of the movie, I’d give The Lego Movie 5/5 or maybe even a 6/5. It’s just that for the first hour-and-a-half it was running at a 1 or 2 out of 5.
