It’s a shame that this movie comes out so closely on the heals of Divergent, The Hunger Games, and endless trailers for The Maze Runner. The Giver, based on the 1993 classic by Lois Lowry, is the grandaddy of the dystopian young adult genre and yet I fear uniformed moviegoers will only see this as yet another entry into the very crowded field.
